DIPLOMA OF SALON MANAGEMENT

The Diploma of Salon Management covers the skills and knowledge you need to progress your career to managing a salon or operate your own salon. The salon management skills in the course focus on personal services including
hairdressing or barber shops, nails and beauty salons, massage clinics and spas.

Salon managers are responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operation of the business, including safety supervision, and planning, monitoring and evaluating the work of staff. Customer service is covered in the course as this is an essential part of a salon manager’s role.

Work Placement
You will complete a total of 33 days of work placement under the supervision of a qualified salon manager. This placement can be in one or more locations to suit your interests to have the access available at your work site(s).

The work placement will be arranged to meet your background in hairdressing, barbering, nail and beauty or massage and spa. We will provide help and support while you complete your placements. We expect the student to complete the work placement gradually, which means usually one day a week for 4 terms, but this can vary to suit both the student and salon. Placement is not paid employment but could lead to employment as the course progresses. Work placements are a valuable experience for students.

• Evidence of completing a relevant VET course at Certificate III or above level in Australia such as hairdressing, nails, beauty, massage.
• Academic IELTS 5.5 overall, no less than 5.0 in each band, or upper intermediate, or EAP from approved ELICOS/ESL centre or
• Applicants must be 18 years or above

This course has open entry but you will benefit from this course more if you have work experience in personal services role such as hairdressing, nails, beauty or massage.
