The Diploma of Mental Health program is designed for individuals who wish to provide services to clients with mental health issues. This may include providing counselling, referral, advocacy, and education/health promotion services. To succeed in this field, students will need to develop high-level specialist knowledge, skills, and competencies relating to laws affecting people with mental health issues, the range of available services, and health issues related to mental health.

To complete this qualification, students must complete at least 160 hours of work experience as specified in the Assessment Requirements of the units of competency. Upon completion, graduates will receive the Diploma of Mental Health, which will prepare them for employment in a variety of organisations such as community, government, and mental health sector agencies.

Graduates will be responsible for a range of tasks, including engaging with individuals with psychological disabilities and sourcing solutions, working with clients to self-manage their health and improve their mental well-being, and implementing policies, procedures, and guidelines for the provision of mental health services.

Entry Requirements

Australian City International College has specific entry requirements for international students who wish to study at the college. These requirements include being at least 18 years old and having completed the equivalent of Year 12. Additionally, students are required to participate in a course entry interview to determine their suitability for the course and to address their specific needs.

To demonstrate English language proficiency, students must achieve an IELTS score of 5.5, with test results that are no more than 2 years old. Alternatively, students can provide documented evidence of their education in an English-speaking country for at least 5 years, or they can complete an English Placement Test. It is important to note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted if their results are equivalent to IELTS 5.5.
