Counsellors will provide therapy, advice, advocacy and support to their clients. They assist clients to establish and achieve goals that are intended to improve their quality of life. Typically, counsellors will work collaboratively with other professionals, such as psychologists, social workers and other health practitioners, to manage their clients’  emotional, physical and mental health and wellbeing. 

Entry Requirements

  • Successful completion of Year 12 in an Australian secondary school system or equivalent

The Diploma of Counselling offers graduates a variety of employment opportunities within the health, human and community services sectors. Counselling professionals are typically employed in a range of settings including outreach services. hospitals, shelters, community service providers, educational institutions, prisons and long term residential facilities.
