Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Comedy)
If you dream of a career as a Stand Up Comedian, Writer, Stage Director or Producer, working in Film and TV, Radio, Performing Arts, Podcasting, or on the internet, this course is for you.
The Comedy course is perfect for people wanting to work in the comedic side of the arts and entertainment industries. You will be taught and mentored by industry experts who are currently working within many sectors of the industry including theatre, film, television, radio and podcasting.
Focusing on comedy performance, comedy writing, production, and entrepreneurship, you will gain the knowledge and skills to develop and manage a career in the entertainment industry. Students have the opportunity to create a comedy portfolio showcase, as well as partake in sought-after internships and gain hands-on experience. You will also work closely with students from other courses to foster a well-rounded understanding of the arts and entertainment industries.

The Bachelor of Dramatic Arts (Comedy) is ideal for students wanting to work in the comedic side of the arts and entertainment industries.
The Bachelor degree can be completed fast-tracked over six trimesters (2 years) of full-time study or standard over nine trimesters (3 years) of full-time study.
THROUGHOUT THE DEGREE, YOU WILL
- Develop an in-depth understanding of comedy creation, production and publicity
- Create, produce and promote shows and live performances
- Attend and perform stand-up and live shows
- Gain knowledge and experience in performance and comedic arts
- Get valuable insight into the entertainment industry from experienced teachers, and access career pathways through our industry partnerships and placements
- Hear from and work with guest speakers and meet with agents throughout the course
- Study on-campus with access to all of Collarts’ campus facilities
- Complete your bachelor degree in two years instead of the standard three
Entry Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old at course commencement
- Successful completion of a senior secondary school certificate equivalent to Australian year 12
- English Language Proficiency
Our English requirement is an overall IELTS score of 6.0 (with no single band score below 6.0) for all the courses, except Entertainment Journalism and Creative Writing, where students are required to have an overall IELTS score of 6.5 (with no single band score below 6.0).

Study Subjects
The full-time course duration is two years with a study load per trimester of four units (read across each row) in trimesters 1-5, one from each stream of units (columns); and two units in trimester 6, equal to 24 credit points. All units are of equal credit point weight nominally 6 credit points equal to a course total of 144 credit point.
